What’s in a name?

As a Celebrant, I am able to help you create a bespoke naming-celebration for any member of your family.  My personal special focus is on helping families to welcome newly adopted or fostered children, or for helping to bring together step-children in your new family.  As an adopted child myself, I know the special relationship with your new family’s name is a precious one; I was officially adopted on my brother’s second birthday, a fact that has always felt hugely special to us both.

I work with parents to help create the ceremony or service you desire, to welcome the child, or children into their new family, what ever form that takes.

We will spend some time together, looking at how you want to celebrate this wonderful addition to your family, who will be part of the celebration and what you’d like to include.

I offer two packages for a naming celebration:

Welcome to our family  (for one child)  £275 (plus travel costs)
We will meet virtually, over Skype (or similar) to talk about  what you’d like for your naming celebration.  I’ll share the basic outline I have developed with you and you’ll be able to add personal touches like readings, poems or music.  The service will be held wherever you choose and will last around 20 minutes.  I will present you with a copy of the script from the day, for you to keep.

We’re all a family now (for more than one child)  £575 (plus travel costs)
In addition to all of the above, we will have a rehearsal, with all the children, to make sure everyone is confident about the celebration and their role.  If distance makes multiple travel too expensive, we will hold the rehearsal on the day of the event.

I can include a sand ceremony in either of the above options, for an additional cost of £80.
